Willoughby Rotary Club Memorializes Willoughby’s Centennial Celebration

Adopt-a-Brick in the Centennial Community Garden

Willoughby, OH – Willoughby Rotary Club presents an opportunity for area residents, businesses, and organizations to have a permanent way to “leave their mark” in the new Rotary Club Centennial Garden, which will soon be located beside the new Willoughby Courthouse on Erie Street in downtown Willoughby. This area will provide a much needed outdoor space to sit and relax, as well as link the court’s parking area and main entry.

Bricks can be sponsored in the garden, and engraved with the message of the purchaser’s choice. Two sizes of bricks are available:

  • 4” x 8” rectangles, which can accommodate up to 3 lines of copy, and
  • 8” x 8” squares, which can accommodate up to 5 lines of copy.

Bricks can be adopted and engraved for as little as $50. Several symbols are available and custom logos can also be engraved at an additional cost.

Rotary Club Secretary Mike Wildermuth is coordinating the program, and says that the Rotary needs all initial orders received by September 21, 2007. There may be additional periods of time in the future when bricks can be adopted and engraved, however. Wildermuth wants the community to know that this is not a fundraising effort. “This is a self-sufficient program,” he emphasizes. “Willoughby Rotary wants to serve our community with an enhanced garden, and by providing an opportunity to remember loved ones, and recognize worthy organizations.”

While Adopt-a-Brick is not a fundraising activity, the Willoughby Rotary is busy preparing for their 22nd annual Willoughby Rotary Foundation's Charity Ball to be held at the Kirtland Country Club, on October 13, 2007. This year’s theme is “Dreams Come True”, and includes a drawing culminating a raffle for the winner’s choice of a new 2007 Corvette Coupe 1LT, with an MSRP of $44, 995.00, or $40,000 in cash. More information can be found and tickets can be purchased at willoughbyrotary.org. Tickets are also available from Willoughby Rotary members.
